Transforming a damp, blocked fireplace into something rater smarter
- and more practical!
Jo carried out all the structural building work
(including building the wooden fire surround)
It is possible for a non-registered person to install a solid fuel fire but there are stringent safety regulations covering (for example) the fire, flue and ventillation that must be adhered to before having the installation approved by Building control (which in itself is not cheap).
For this project I engaged a HETAS Approved Tradesman to install the fire and flue. He not only carried out the work safely but also registered the install with Building Control within the cost of the installation.
There can be serious risks associated with burning solid fuels,
not least carbon monoxide (CO)
If you are in any doubt, please contact a professional installer.
